About me, that is. Because who doesn't want a peek behind the curtain of a creative mind? And everyone loves a listicle. So here goes.
5. I survived an Ohio blizzard in my first year of life, and my mom kept the certificate to prove it. I recently asked her to send it to me. Though it looks official, it's actually just an official-looking coupon for a dollar off at some local restaurant. Well done, Benjamin's. Well done.
4. I specialized in plant biology in college, for reasons I can't recall. There was a time when I could identify the genus and species of over 100 woody trees and shrubs by looking at the leaves and buds. Not super useful for a creative, but a fun party trick.
3. I moved from Ohio, the only place I'd ever called home, to San Diego, where I had no friends or family, with no job and $1,000 to my name. I stayed for 13 years and have scads of friends and an incredible work history to show for it.
2. I took 10 Saturdays of beginner adult tap classes at a community center and wore a sequined costume on stage at the recital, to the wild delight of my friends in the audience.
1. If I had unlimited funds—like seriously unlimited—my one ridiculous purchase* would be a Bellagio-sized fountain in my back yard, choreographed each day to a live band of my choosing.
*After taking care of friends, family, and those in need, of course.
